1. Information collected
“Cheerfly” (the App) collects the following information.
- Email address (development and testing environments only)
- Signing in with an email address and password works only in the development and testing environments. The published app has no entry point for it. Passwords are stored hashed, and the original text is not kept.
- Identifier provided by Apple
- If you use Sign in with Apple, the identifier issued by Apple (sub) is collected. An email address is collected along with it, which is an Apple relay address if you chose to hide your email. An account is identified by the identifier (sub). When you sign in with Apple, an account already registered with the same email address is looked up and linked only if Apple has verified that email address. The email address collected is stored only if Apple has verified it, and is then used to link accounts and included in the account information returned to you. However, an Apple relay address is never used to link accounts.
- Identifier provided by Google
- If you sign in with Google, the identifier issued by Google (sub) and your email address are collected through Google’s authentication service (Google Sign-In). The name and profile picture of your Google account are not stored. An account is identified by the identifier (sub). When you sign in with Google, an account already registered with the same email address is looked up and linked only if Google has verified that email address. The email address collected is stored only if Google has verified it, and is then used to link accounts and included in the account information returned to you.
- Device token
- Collected if you allow push notifications. Used only to send notifications.
- Records of your work
- The title of the work, the times it started and ended, time spent paused, the breakdown by sub-task, and the number of times you left the app while working.
- Records of encouragement and interaction
- The messages and stickers you send and receive, follow relationships, records of who viewed which work and when, and the content of blocks and reports.
- Profile
- Display name, self-introduction and icon colours. All of them are optional.
The App does not collect your contacts, photos or microphone. For the advertising identifier (IDFA) and the approximate location used to deliver advertisements, see “Advertising” below.
2. Purposes of use
- Creating and authenticating accounts
- Recording your work and showing it back to you
- Listing you among the people currently working, and sending and receiving encouragement
- Sending notifications (each kind can be turned off in the settings)
- Responding to inappropriate posts (handling reports and blocks)
3. Information shown to other users
When you start working, your display name, the title of your work and the elapsed time are shown to other users through the list of people currently working. The title of your work is made public. Do not include anything you do not want others to know.
Email addresses and device tokens are not shown to other users.
4. Sharing with third parties
The information collected is never sold to third parties. Google’s authentication service (Google Sign-In) is used to authenticate sign-in, Apple Push Notification service to deliver notifications, and Google AdMob to deliver advertisements. Information collected through signing in with Google is never used to deliver advertisements. This does not apply to disclosure requested on the basis of the law.
5. Advertising
On the free plan, advertisements are delivered by Google AdMob. While you are subscribed to the Standard Plan, no advertisements are shown and no information is sent for advertising purposes.
To deliver advertisements, AdMob may collect the advertising identifier (IDFA), your approximate location, and records of the advertisements shown and interacted with. What is collected is subject to Google’s privacy policy.
Tracking that uses the advertising identifier requires your consent in the permission dialog inside the app. Every feature of the app remains available if you decline, and advertisements are then shown without being based on your interests. You can change your choice at any time in iOS under “Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking”. In some regions it can also be changed from “Advertising privacy settings” in the app’s settings screen.
6. Where information is stored, and for how long
Information is stored on servers located in Germany. It is kept for as long as the account exists, or for the period required by law. The encouragement you sent and the records of reports described under “Deletion”, however, remain after the account is deleted.
7. Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from “Settings > Delete account” in the app. When you do, your work history, your follow relationships and the encouragement you received are lost.
The encouragement you sent to other people remains, as part of their records. Your name is no longer shown with it, however, and it cannot be linked back to you. This is so that encouragement someone has received is not taken away for reasons of our own.
Records of reports remain, so that we can deal with inappropriate posts. Both the reports you made and the reports about you are kept in a form that is not linked to your name or email address.
8. Age
The App is intended for people aged 13 or over. Where the law of your country of residence sets a higher age for consenting to the handling of personal information, it is intended for people who have reached that age.
9. Changes
If this policy is changed, the new text and the date of the update will be posted on this page.
